Bloomsbury: Man wanted over fraud linked to cash machine
An image has been released of a man detectives want to speak to after a large amount of money was taken after the victim used a cash machine in central London.
The victim was withdrawing money from an ATM in Russell Square at about 19:10 GMT on 30 September 2023.
Afterwards, £56,000 was removed from the victim's account over several days, the Met Police said.
The force said it believed the theft was linked to the cash machine.
Inquiries have been ongoing to identify who is responsible, the Met added.
Officers have appealed for anyone who recognises the man in the image to make contact with the force as they believe he may be able to assist with inquiries.
Det Con Evelyn Davies said, who is leading the investigation, said she believed the victim suffered at the hands of a "relatively sophisticated fraud offence".
"At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that this is part of a linked series," she added.
"This is a distressing and hugely impactful crime type and we are working hard to identify whoever is responsible.
"Please make contact with us if you recognise the man in the image, or if this is you, please come forward."
