World Aids Day: The women empowered by their HIV status

HIV and Aids caused pain and heartbreak for many people in the 1980s and 90s.

And although those with HIV can now live long lives, there are still myths and stigma affecting attitudes towards the virus.

We brought together Rebecca Tallon De Havilland, 63, who was diagnosed with Aids in 1987, and Louise Vallace, a mum-of-three who was diagnosed with HIV in 2007, to talk about their diagnoses and the challenged they've faced.

Both Rebecca and Louise are empowered by their HIV status and are now sharing their experiences to encourage people to get tested and look after themselves.
