Sixteen-year-old boy dies in London double stabbing

A 16-year-old boy has died and another is injured after being stabbed in a central London street.

The teenagers were found with knife wounds in Seward Street, Clerkenwell, by police officers and ambulance crews at about 22:30 GMT on Tuesday.

One boy died at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"An investigation is under way, there have been no arrests and crime scene is in place," the Met Police said.

Witnesses have said they saw a group of people on bikes attacking the pair.

The Metropolitan Police said officers had given the boys first aid until paramedics and the air ambulance arrived.

One of the boys was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital where his injuries were found not to be life-threatening.

Det Ch Insp Kate Kieran said: "A 16-year-old boy with his whole life ahead of him has been killed as a result of senseless violence.

"We know there were also members of the public who came to the aid of both boys after they were assaulted.

"Some did not provide their details to officers at the scene but we would very much like to speak to them."
