The A16 has reopened after being affected by "heavy smoke" from a barn fire in the nearby village of Stickney.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said crews had been tackling the blaze involving straw bales in the barn on Main Road since the early hours of the morning.

People living close to the scene have been warned to keep their windows and doors shut and motorist have been advised to avoid the area.

Fire officer Ash Hildred said it could continue to burn for the next few days.

He added: "Incidents like this become very protracted and difficult to extinguish so we take a more controlled burn perspective. We have to make sure there's no other risks and it's not going to spread."
