Leicester: Police name mum killed when she was hit by car
Police have named a pedestrian who was killed when she was struck by a car in Leicester.
Sammy Dyson suffered fatal injuries on the A50, in Glenfield, at about 23:00 GMT on Saturday 30 December.
The 41-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after she was hit by a grey Toyota Prius near a petrol station close to the Gynsill Lane roundabout.
Leicestershire Police said a 35-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has since been released under investigation.
In a statement, released by police on Thursday, the mother-of three's loved ones paid tribute to her.
They said Ms Dyson, who was from the Markfield area and also used her maiden name Ayton, was a "precious and beautiful mum", a beloved daughter, sister and aunt.
They said: "We are devastated. We love and miss you and your beautiful smile.
"You always knew how to make the most out of life and were a light in the dark for all of us."
Police said the investigation into Ms Dyson's death was continuing and they appealed for witnesses and footage.
