Disused Leicester factory to make way for new homes

The council said the factory had limited historical and architectural value

Plans to knock down a derelict factory in Leicester and replace it with 17 homes have been given the green light.

Leicester City Council's planners said the factory, in Disraeli Street, had limited historical value and other factory units in the area had already made way for housing.

The factory, near Aylestone Meadows, will be replaced by 12 four-bedroom homes, one three-bed and four two-beds.

A previous application for a 19-home development was rejected.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service said planning officers stated the updated scheme was an improvement on those proposals.
