Council apology over wrong directions to Meanwood painted on road

A council has apologised after incorrectly painted road markings directed drivers the wrong way.
The error saw motorists on a road in north Leeds being directed into a lane labelled Meanwood instead of the city centre.
The confusion prompted hundreds of comments on social media, with one poster stating: "I despair. What a waste of money."
Leeds City Council said the mistake had since been corrected.

The incorrect markings were painted on the wrong lane of the road just off the B6157 roundabout in the Moortown area of the city.
Another person commented: "No wonder people crash I would be all over here trying to work out where I was."
A council spokesperson said: "We apologise for the confusion concerning the road markings toward Meanwood."
The spokesperson said the mistake was rectified on Sunday.
