Man, 18, charged with murder over Ormskirk stab death

A man has been charged with murdering a 19-year-old who was stabbed in a fight.

Matthew Daulby from Liverpool was found with stab injuries near Railway Road in Ormskirk just after midnight on Saturday and died in hospital.

Henry Houghton, 18, of Barrison Green, Scarisbrick, is due to appear before Preston Magistrates' Court later charged with his murder.

Five people who were arrested on Thursday have been released on bail, Lancashire Police said.

Another man injured in the fight was treated in hospital and discharged.

Footage appeal

Those released on bail include three 19-year-old men from Liverpool, Lydiate and Maghull, who were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and a 63-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, both from Aughton, who were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Thursday established that Mr Daulby died as the result of a stab wound, the force said.

A 20-year-old man from Ormskirk who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday was released on conditional bail.

Two 19-year-old men from Liverpool and Melling, both arrested on suspicion of affray, were also released on bail.

Detectives said inquiries were "ongoing" and continued to appeal for anyone with information to contact them.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anybody who has footage from Railway Road and surrounding streets in the minutes before the altercation took place and the minutes after," he said.

"You could have captured something that could be key to this investigation."
