Plans approved to repurpose former Hereford RBS bank

Plans to repurpose a former bank that has been empty for five years have been approved by planning officers.

The Royal Bank of Scotland on Broad Street, Hereford, was one of 162 RBS branches which closed in 2018.

A decision about the building's next use has not yet been confirmed by owners Hereford Cathedral.

Work is expected to include improving the insulation, fixing water damage and creating a second door.

The cathedral said it hoped to use funding from Herefordshire Council to bring it back into use.

Giving it her backing, planning officer Eleanor Barry concluded the proposal was "not in conflict" with the county and national planning policy.
