Testing a new therapeutic glove for stroke patients
An electronic glove that forces movement in paralysed hands has been developed by the University of Southampton.
Printed electrodes in the sleeve make contact with the skin and send electronic impulses to produce an artificial movement.
It is intended to help stroke patients regain muscle strength and function and eventually use their hands to grip again.
Dave Lea, the first patient to try the device, demonstrated picking up an apple while wearing the glove on his paralysed right arm.
