Gloucester Oxstalls sports park to reopen for county tennis club
A sports park has reopened its tennis courts for county players to use.
Gloucestershire Lawn Tennis Association will now be able to use the tennis courts at Oxstalls Sports Park after its sudden closure in September.
Oxstalls and GL1 Leisure Centre were shut after Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust went into liquidation.
Gloucester City Council is working to reopen all facilities and has set aside £260,000 to appoint an interim leisure provider to run services.
The council will then appoint a company to run the services in the long-term.
Culture and leisure cabinet member Andy Lewis said he is delighted that the courts have reopened.
"We are working tirelessly to offer what facilities we can until a new provider can be found.
"We understand how important these facilities are for the club and I am pleased that they can now use the courts once again," he added.
Mr Lewis said the council hoped to have an interim provider appointed by the end of October.
He had previously promised that the swimming pool at GL1 would be reopened for lessons, schools and the public by 1 January 2024.
