Buttsbury Wash: Two women saved after more cars trapped in water

Firefighters said they rescued two drivers in two days after cars became stranded in almost 4ft (1.2m) of water.

Crews were called at 08:36 GMT on Thursday to Buttsbury Wash near Billericay in Essex and a crew rescued the woman trapped inside.

The service said crews also saved a woman on Wednesday at 07:50.

Buttsbury Wash is a ford that regularly floods and frequently catches drivers out. The service advised motorists to avoid water if deeper than 10cm (4in).

Station manager Russ Freeman said: "You'd be surprised how little water it takes for your car to be damaged or even to float out of control."
