Man filmed throwing lit cigarette at car in Grays
Video showed a man throwing a lit cigarette at a vehicle before running off carrying a jerry can.
It was filmed by a tower block resident in Grays, Essex, who said the would-be arsonist used scaffolding to hide.
Although no fire took hold, the resident said his family was "shaken up" by what had happened and that people living there were concerned about safety.
Essex Police said it was investigating the incident and called for any footage to be passed on to detectives.
