A lorry overturned leaving a stretch of the A31 in Dorset completely blocked.

The road was closed in both directions between the A349 for Merley and the B3078 Wimborne at about 10:30 BST on Friday, with traffic diverted along the A349, A350 and A35 .

It has since reopened and recovery of the vehicle is being arranged, Dorset Police said.

The driver of the lorry sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, it added.

A large amount of fuel leaked from the lorry onto the road, National Highways said.

Dorset Police warned of possible delays throughout the day.
