Triathlon bikes worth £19,000 stolen in Devon burglary

Thousands of pounds-worth of specialised triathlon bikes have been stolen from a property in Teignmouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the burglary happened on Friday 15 December at an address on Yannon Drive.

The two specialised bikes belonging to a Team GB triathlete, were thought to be worth about £19,000 in total.

The stolen bikes are a Specialized Tarmac SL7 S-Works in dusty blue with silver decals, and a Specialized white Tarmac SL7 Comp.

Police said the respective serial numbers were WSBC004421040S and 90622-5156.

The bikes also both had Garmin Vector 3 pedals, including the serial number 38A137728, officers added.

Owner Donald Brooks, 46, said the thieves prised open a lock on the door of a garage where the bikes were secured against the wall.

The company director, who won world and European competitions in 2023, said he found the bikes gone on the morning of Saturday 16 December.

He said: "They just went for the higher-value racing bikes. I don't think it was just a chance - they've scouted it out.

"It's affected us more as a family, really, realising we've been broken into; it puts you more on edge."

He said he had also put out a call on social media for people to watch out for the distinctive bikes.
