Grandmother granted last wish for ice cream
A grandmother who is receiving end-of-life care has been granted her final wish - an ice cream.
Beryl Edgington, 86, from Lillington, used to have an ice cream every day in Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa.
Her granddaughter Nicole Goudie posted on Facebook to see if an ice cream van could visit Beryl at her home.
More than 130 people replied with suggestions and helped set up a visit from a Coventry company.
"I thought it would be a challenge just to get an ice cream van as they get put away in winter," Ms Goudie said.
She said Beryl was very shocked when she heard the news.
"I'm not sure how much that it's gone in, but I think as long as she's tasted that ice cream that's all that matters," she said.
Ms Goudie described Beryl as a very independent woman who was as "strong as an ox", but had become poorly over the last couple of years.
Memories of Beryl taking her to the park for an ice cream when she was young were her best childhood memories, Ms Goudie added.
Beryl and her family will be visited on Saturday by a van owned by Matty Osborne from Coventry.
