Large fire tackled at Lawford Heath landfill site

Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large fire at a landfill in Warwickshire.

The blaze is affecting about three acres (12,140 sqm) of the Ling Hall site, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

All residents living nearby have been advised to keep windows and doors closed, but there have been no reports of casualties.

Huge amounts of smoke has been reported coming from the blaze at Lawford Heath.

Fire crews are expecting to remain at the scene for the next two days

Five appliances were at the scene and a water dam has been deployed.

The fire service said it was working closely with the Environment Agency to reduce the impact to the environment.

Three fire crews and a high volume pump will remain at the site overnight, it said, and it expected the incident to continue for the next 48 hours.

Ambulance colleagues have been informed.
