Plans for a new six-storey hotel on the northern edge of Cambridge have been approved.

The building will be situated in Orchard Park, a residential development in Arbury.

It includes 137 hotel rooms, 80 aparthotel - or extended stay rooms - a restaurant, bar, cafe, gym and pool.

South Cambridgeshire District Council gave the proposals the green light at a planning committee meeting on Wednesday.

TLC Group, which put forward the plans, said the the hotel will be 24.4m (about 80ft) high.

There will be a 178-space basement car park with 16 wheelchair accessible, along with cycle parking spaces for 124 visitors with a further 30 of them secure.

Objections to the development were raised by the Orchard Park Community Council. Their concerns included increased traffic from those using the pool and other facilities.
