Friends have paid online tributes to a 36-year-old Emma Stearn, who died after being involved in a collision on Friday

Tributes have been paid to a young mother who died after a road traffic collision.

Emma Stearn, 36, from Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, had been walking on Longthorpe Parkway, Peterborough, at about 19:30 GMT on Friday, police said.

The driver of an Audi A1 Sport car was "assisting" police with inquiries, the force said.

Friends posted Facebook messages saying Ms Stearn was "amazing" and would be missed.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said the driver, a 21-year-old woman from Peterborough, had remained at the scene of the collision.

A family statement issued by police said: "Emma had a beautiful soul and a love for life.

"Her smile shone and she was compassionate to others. Emma was a credit to herself and loved her children very much."

One friend said in a Facebook message: "She was an amazing person, we will miss you Em."

The police said anyone with information about the incident - or dashcam footage of the collision - should get in touch.
