Much of St Neots has been placed under a flood warning

A flood warning has been issued for St Neots in Cambridgeshire as Storm Henk takes hold.

Rising levels on the River Great Ouse could affect large areas of the town and its suburbs, the Environment Agency said.

Meanwhile, flooding has closed the eastbound carriageway of the A47 near Peterborough.

Flood warnings and more than a dozen flood alerts have been issued across Cambridgeshire.

Flood warnings, issued by the Environment Agency, mean flooding is expected and people need to act.

  • The River Great Ouse at St Neots
  • Alconbury Brook at Hamerton, Alconbury Weston, Alconbury, Little Stukeley and Brampton
  • North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough

More than a dozen flood alerts, less serious than flood warnings, have been issued elsewhere, including on the border with Norfolk at Hundred Foot Washes.

National Highways said the eastbound carriageway of the A47 was shut between junction 15, near Peterborough, and the A1.

Police were on scene and contractors would be "clearing the water", the agency added.
