A new private sixth form centre is due to move into a former Barclays Bank branch that has Grade II listed status.

Buckinghamshire Council approved plans for the Westminster House building in Gerrards Cross, on the corner of Packhorse Road and South Park.

The bank closed in March 2021 and the building will now be home to Thorpe House School pupils next year.

The building dates back to the early 20th Century and has most recently been used as office space.

Westminster House was designed by architects Edgington and Spink, now Edgington Architects and based in Windsor in Berkshire, said the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

It was built 1911-12, and was listed by Historic England in 1989.

It will now be used to house the independent boys school's new sixth form which is welcoming girls as well.

About 20-25 Year 12 students studying four or five subjects will be welcomed to the site in September under the first phase of the new sixth form.

In the second phase, a further 20-25 pupils will join the lower sixth the following year.
