"We needed to remember them because they died protecting our country," the memorial organiser says.

The unveiling close to the site where a group of servicemen died is "moving" and "a fitting tribute".

Members of the 306th Bombardment Group died on a flying mission from Bedfordshire on 26 April 1944.
