M&S is submitting a planning application for a new store that it says will create 90 new jobs.

The longstanding Marks and Spencer store in West Sussex is closing after 56 years in the high street.

More than 700 workers are set to strike from 27 September over what they say is "low pay".

Customers have told of their memories as the "precious" store closes its doors for one last time.

The expansion is set to be complete by spring, the retailer says.

The old BHS and Marks and Spencer buildings will be replaced by flats and shops.

The retail giant has confirmed the Leicester store will close its doors on 17 August.

M&S bosses are investing £21m into the three-level store, which will include a food hall.
