A new 25-hectare woodland is being created in Cottingham, with volunteers turning up to lend a hand.

The arrival of snowdrops has created a magical setting, according to the Evenley Wood head gardener.

A 60-hectare (148-acre) wood will be planted over two years as a community space and to aid research.

The owner of the land in Wiltshire has been told to remove the structure or face 21 days in prison.

Volunteers are working to restore the community woodland, which was badly damaged by fire.

Forestry England has appealed for information and says specialist contractors will remove the tiles.

The woodland is officially named Hope Wood and members of the community have started planting trees.
