'Much-needed' affordable homes to help village

The "much-needed" homes are to be built on a site which has been subject to fly-tipping and arson.

Of 19 officers suspended, five face allegations of sexual misconduct and six of domestic abuse.

The Durham Council programme offers one-to-one support from a mentor for six months.

Site of derelict swimming pool may be redeveloped

An outdoor gym and play area are among possible plans for the site which closed as a pool in 2008.

Taxis targeted in safety check operation

The safety checks follow a similar operation in Durham and Darlington in December last year.

Parish councillors made to take conduct training

Four village councillors are told to have conduct training after complaints are upheld.

Former civic hall to reopen as community venue

Stanley Civic Hall is now being run by Lamplight Arts Centre Ltd, which will repair the site.
