The US administration has been shaken after it emerged plans for air strikes against the group were inadvertently shared with a journalist.

A National Security Council spokesman said in a statement the reported chat "appears to be authentic"

The US president says Iran's leadership would be blamed for "every shot fired by the Houthis".

The US said it launched a "decisive and powerful" wave of air strikes on Houthi targets on Saturday.

The Houthi-run health ministry says 31 people were killed in the strikes on Saturday.

Talks with senior Houthi officials are underway to try and get the workers released.

The move reverses President Biden's decision to remove the group from the US' terror list.

Israel claimed responsibility for the strikes, saying it had targeted Houthi "military infrastructure".
