Great-grandmother Barbara Eden barely left home until she found out about a local voluntary service.

A council says new paths and outdoor musical instruments will be installed at a later date.

A stretch from Gamston Island to the Wheatcroft roundabout was closed in both directions.

The race, which starts at the National Water Sports Centre, will begin at 06:00 BST on Sunday.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene on the A6011, near Gamston Lock.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Nottinghamshire.

As well as improving flow, it is hoped the work will help provide clear water for fish.

The man - who suffered potentially life-altering injuries - has since been arrested, police say.
