Staff at a wildlife trust are hoping the birds nesting at a cathedral will breed again next year.

Police are investigating after reports that a man was seen walking across the nest.

The pair of falcons are nesting at St Albans Cathedral for the fourth year in a row.

Organisers hope to inspire children to take an interest in their natural environment.

The private school, founded in 948, currently only welcomes girls to its sixth form.

Reverend Peter Crumpler says it makes "the council meetings no-go areas for religion".

The council says the improvements will "safeguard the public and homes from golf ball strikes”. 

The casualty was brought out of the house by firefighters, but later died at the scene.
