The return of top flight Tyne-Wear derbies should help boost regional tourism, politicians say.

The council believes the development will help with net zero targets.

The site offers support for parents and carers and a place for children to play free of charge.

The trophy is to be displayed at Keele Square on a last stop before the tournament begins in August.

With more than 1,000 suggestions, the council says it has been "overwhelmed" by the response.

Sunderland City Council says the site is "highly significant", with parts built in the 16th Century.

The site will accommodate up to four children aged from 11 to 17, according to council documents.

The fire service says people had to leave the Horizon building after the loss of safety systems.
