Jordan North to replace Roman Kemp as Capital host
Jordan North is to replace Roman Kemp as host of Capital Radio's breakfast show.
He left Radio 1 last week, with Roman confirming on Monday he was leaving Capital on 28 March.
Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing, who's previously hosted shows on the BBC station, will take over Jordan's afternoon slot from 4 March.
Jordan says he's "beyond excited" to start at the rival station after the news was announced on air.
"Getting to host Capital Breakfast has always been a dream of mine and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity that I simply couldn't turn down," he says.
He's due to start presenting alongside co-hosts Chris Stark and Sian Welby in April and Capital confirmed he will also host its Summertime Ball in June.
Jordan's final Going Home show on Radio 1, with co-host Vick Hope, aired on 15 February, with his exit announced the next day.
In an Instagram post, he thanked his producers, co-hosts and listeners, saving a special shout-out for "partner in crime" Vick, writing: "I'll miss being on air with you every day."
Jordan had presented the drivetime show since 2021 and had worked at Radio 1 for 10 years in total.
Jamie described the opportunity to take over as "an absolute dream".
He has previously presented on the station during Mollie King's maternity leave, and has also co-hosted the Radio 1 podcast 6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer.
"I'm beyond excited to get started and keep listeners company on their journeys home," he said.
Roman announced he was quitting Capital's breakfast show in an emotional message to listeners.
"I love this place so much - I love the station and I love the connection you listening and I have been able to build together," he said.
Roman started presenting the breakfast show, which he hosts alongside Chris Stark and Sian Welby to an audience of almost 8 million weekly listeners, in 2017.
He is due to host next month's Brit Awards alongside Maya Jama and Clara Amfo.
Jordan also co-hosts the Help I Sexted My Boss podcast with William Hanson and took part in 2020's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, finishing second.
