Miley Cyrus hits out at D&G as her brother models for them
Getty ImagesMiley Cyrus has started a social media spat with fashion powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana, saying she "strongly disagrees" with their politics in an Instagram post.
Stefano Gabbana hit back calling Cyrus's comments "ignorant".
D&G has been criticised for its work with US First Lady Melania Trump.
The 24-year-old singer was congratulating her brother Braison as he made his modelling debut in the brand's men's fashion show in Milan.
At the end of a long post congratulating her younger brother for his catwalk appearance, Miley commented on the Italian designer.
She wrote: "PS D&G, I STRONGLY disagree with your politics.... but I do support your company's effort to celebrate young artists & give them the platform to shine their light for all to see!"
As well as D&G's work with Melania Trump, Cyrus also could have been commenting on an interview the pair gave to an Italian magazine where they said "We oppose gay adoptions".
They later apologised.
Stefano Gabbana responded to Miley Cyrus with his own post on Instagram saying: "We don't need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us!!"
He wrote: "We are Italian and we don't care about politics and mostly neither about the American one!
"We make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it's simply ignorant."
He ended the post with #boycottdolcegabbana - a nod to his fashion house's response to their criticism over Melania Trump.
After people were angry that Melania Trump wore D&G outfits, the brand started selling #boycottdolcegabbana T-shirts for £185.
