Alleged supporter of banned group arrested

A 61-year-old woman has been arrested in Shropshire on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation.

She was arrested from an address in Bishop's Castle, West Midlands Police confirmed.

A proscribed organisation is one which it is a criminal offence to join or support as the government believes it is concerned in terrorism.

The suspect has been released on bail as investigations continue. It is understood the woman was held by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Squad.

The arrest was on 29 August but details have only just been released.
