Drivers are being asked for their views on car parks by a council developing a new parking strategy.

It wants people to take part in a survey about how they use the car parks in Carlisle and Keswick.

Cumberland Council is looking for opinions about value for money and how the sites could be improved.

Councillor Barbara Cannon said the feedback would help the local authority shape its plans.

"Car parking is a really important subject for many people; especially for residents, businesses and visitors," she said.

Cumberland Council took over the off-street parking sites as part of local government reorganisation in April 2023.

Cannon added "well-managed" car parks could help manage traffic in towns and cities, as well as helping residents shop and access vital services.

They also provided "a proper space for visitors to leave their cars while enjoying what Cumberland has to offer," she said.

The survey is now open and will close on 31 January.

The council said it planned to carry out surveys on Cumberland's other car parks in the future.
