Sutton Road Bridge is to be closed for two days for "essential deck repairs", Hull City Council said.

The council said the work was being carried out under a road closure "to maintain safety", but access would be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.

Motorists will be diverted over Stoneferry Bridge and the council advised drivers to allow extra time for travel.

The work is due to start at 06:00 BST on Wednesday 7 May and is due to be completed by 06:00 on Friday.

The council said the scheme was part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the city's infrastructure, and that it would ensure the safety and functionality of the bridge.

Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure, said: "We understand the inconvenience these works may cause and appreciate the public's patience and cooperation during the construction period."
