Medway drivers warned of closures and diversions
Road closures and diversions are due to be put in place in Hoo, Kent, for two weeks from Monday.
Alex Paterson, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for community safety, highways and enforcement, said: “This is a much-needed project to help improve the junction between Main Road and Herdsdown, and will be welcomed by residents and road-users alike.
"We recognise there may be some short-term frustration caused by the road closure, but this will be outweighed by the long-term benefit of the work, and we will aim to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Main Road will be closed at the junction with Herdsdown while a raised junction is lowered, resurfaced, given new ramps and a pedestrian crossing installed, the council says.
Traffic will be diverted from Main Road to Bells Lane, and Ratcliffe Highway, with residents of Main Road with vehicles will still be able to access their homes, a Medway Council spokesperson said.
Buses will also be diverted via the A228, and Bells Lane, around the Knights Road loop and down to Hoo Marina, with temporary bus stops in place.
