A business park has been badly damaged by a fire that started on Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to the site at Staverton, near Totnes, at 06:24 BST.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said crews with nine fire engines and an aerial ladder attended the scene.

There have been no reports of injuries but several business have been affected.

Craftsman Henry Beams moved to the site last August and said his workshop has been destroyed: "It was the last to catch on fire but it was absolutely melted. Even the table saw... all the gear is warped and bent and gone.

"We had three builds on the go which were sold to order, so customers were expecting those and they have all been completely savaged. There is nothing left of it."

He added that he is in "desperate need of finding a new workshop space".

Incident Commander Matt Radford said: "At the height of the incident we had nine fire appliances supported by two water bowsers, an aerial ladder platform, and an environmental protection unit because of the smoke plume and so we could protect the environment from the contaminated water that was leaving the scene."

Mr Radford said specialist officers were at the scene with a total of between 50 and 60 firefighters.
