Puppet festival parade moved due to roadworks
Moving Parts ArtsAn annual puppet festival's parade has been moved to a new location due to roadworks.
The Newcastle Puppetry Festival is to return for the sixth time, but with changes to the route because of work being carried out in Northumberland Street.
Now at Exhibition Park, this year's theme is Toon Underground.
Meanwhile, Beasts on the Street has now become Beasts on the Green and moved to the Great North Museum: Hancock with giant animal puppets set to roam in the gardens.
More than 250 people will take part in the parade after two weeks of free workshops creating the puppets.
Themes include burrowing creatures, fungi and the Tyne and Wear Metro.
The festival is running until 27 April and highlights will include free and ticketed theatre, workshops and film screenings.
