Livestock killed in farm blaze

A fire at a farm has killed a "substantial number of livestock".

Cleveland Fire Brigade were called to Margrove Park in Guisborough, near Middlesbrough, in the early hours.

Two barn sheds, 600 bales of hay and equipment including a tractor and digger were also destroyed.

The fire service said the farm's owner had been left "devastated" by the loss and it would be investigating the cause of the blaze.

Emergency services arrived at the farm at 04:49 GMT, and scaled back the fire by 06:00 GMT.

Firefighters from Coulby Newham, Guisborough, Redcar, Saltburn and Skelton worked to control the blaze.

Crews remained on standby to ensure the area stayed safe and to support the owner, the fire service said.
