Chadney Ferguson was arrested after police issued a social media appeal to trace him

An armed attacker who stabbed another man multiple times in a street has been jailed.

Chadney Ferguson, 28, fled after causing "significant injuries" to the man, in his 20s, on Lahmber Way, West Bromwich, last May, police said. The previous month he had threatened to hurt a woman while carrying a brick in Stone Cross.

Ferguson, of Park Lane, Tipton, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, making threats with a bladed article and making threats with an offensive weapon, as well as possession of cannabis.

He was jailed for seven years and seven months with an extended licence period of three years at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 7 April.

Ferguson was arrested in August after West Midands Police issued a social media appeal.

"Ferguson showed extreme levels of violence, which will not be tolerated on the streets of West Bromwich," said PC Benjamin Darlington from Sandwell CID.

"This was traumatic for the victims, and it's through their support we were able to secure these convictions. We hope this will bring some closure for them."

PC Darlington added officers had "managed to ensure a dangerous man has been taken off the streets", and the sentence should reassure communities "violence will lead to jail terms".
