The rail line between Aberdeen and Dundee has reopened after a person was hit by a train.

British Transport Police said the person died at the scene, near the Balnagask area of Torry on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called at about 06:20, with all rail services between the two cities temporarily suspended.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The train involved in the incident was the 06:16 Aberdeen to Montrose service, with three passengers aboard. There were no other injuries.

ScotRail said that all lines had reopened and that services were returning to normal, but warned that they may be subject to delay or revision.
