Firefighters were called to a blaze involving six hay bales in a field.

Crews found them engulfed in flames in a stubble field on Dudbrook Road in Kelvedon Hatch, near Brentwood at about 19:00 BST on Wednesday.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it was able to quickly get the incident under control.

Crew manager Dan Hockley added: "A big thank you to the farmers, as their work to aerate the bales helped them burn quicker and stopped the fire spreading."
