Texas will play at Bristol Sounds next year

Rock band Texas has been announced as a headliner at an open-air concert next summer.

The group, whose hits include I Don't Want a Lover, Say What You Want and Inner Smile, will perform at Lloyd's Amphitheatre in Bristol on 27 June.

They join previously announced headliners, Olly Murs, Kaiser Chiefs and Supergrass. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend on the city's harbourside for the event from 25 to 29 June.

Event promoters Crosstown Concerts said the line-up "celebrates a diverse range of music and energy".

Since forming in 1986, Texas has sold more than 40 million records worldwide.

Promoter Conal Dodds said: "The very first CD I was ever sent by someone in the music industry was by Texas, in 1989.
