A man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a man found unconscious in Walsall - whom police have identified as 51-year-old Kevin Taylor.
Mr Taylor - also known as Taisekwa - was discovered with serious injuries on Lichfield Street shortly before 05:00 GMT on Saturday.
The accused, Kejuan Malone, aged 32, of Hall Green, Birmingham, was due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Mr Taylor's family said he was their "hero" in a tribute released by West Midlands Police.
His children said: "Dad, you were our hero, a guiding light who taught us love, kindness, and resilience.
"Your generosity and unwavering support touched so many lives, and your memory will forever live in our hearts.
"We love you deeply and will honour your legacy always."
The parents of Mr Taylor said: "Our beloved son Taisekwa, your kindness and compassion were a blessing to all who knew you.
"You brought joy and pride to our lives, and your selflessness touched hearts far and wide.
"Though you are gone, your legacy of love will forever remain with us.
"We will miss you dearly, our precious child."
The force said its investigation was continuing and asked witnesses to come forward.
