Work is set to start on two new play areas in a Derbyshire town’s parks.

Two months of work to create a play area at Maurice Lea Memorial Park in Swadlincote and one month of work to install play equipment at Swadlincote Woodlands is set to begin on Monday.

Council leader Robert Pearson said the work was vital to ensure the parks serve the town’s communities, and thanked people for their input on the designs. The council has asked for visitors to be understanding of any disruption while the work is carried out.

The £280,000 South Derbyshire District Council schemes saw more than 1,000 votes cast on the final designs to be created.
