First seal pup of the season spotted at reserve
The first grey seal pup of the season has been born at a nature reserve in Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust said it was first spotted at Donna Nook on Tuesday along with five cows and four bulls.
The reserve is comprised of extensive dunes and a shore and is located between North Somercotes and Saltfleet.
Each year from late October to December, hundreds of seals come to the shore to give birth to their pups.
It is a popular and unique spot for visitors to come to as they get to see the fluffy, big-eyed pups peering at them from the dunes as they watch from the viewing area.
The trust has a list of guidelines on its website for the safety of visitors and to reduce disturbance to the seals.
