A lorry driver has been arrested after a cyclist died following a crash in Hull, Humberside Police said.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a Volvo tipper and a cyclist on Hedon Road at the junction of Emily Street on Thursday at 19:30 BST.

The cyclist, a 59-year-old man, died at the scene from his injuries, the force said.

The lorry driver, a 51-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and causing death while over the prescribed limit for drugs. He remains in custody.

The force is asking for witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to get in touch.
