Communities across North Northamptonshire can apply for the cash

The latest round of community funding grants has been opened by North Northamptonshire Council, with residents able to apply for thousands of pounds to improve where they live.

A £120,000 pot has been made available by the council, with voluntary organisations, charities, town and parish councils, and local clubs able to apply for £5,000 each.

To obtain money, groups must show how their projects would support at least one of six key commitments, which include helping residents live healthier and more fulfilled lives, and being better connected.

The application form and full details of the criteria is on the council's website. The closing date for applications is 2 December.

"Community and voluntary organisations are often the backbone of communities locally, providing vital support and transforming lives," said Mark Rowley, executive member for housing and communities at the Conservative-led council.

"From previous schemes, we know how much of a difference these grants make, and I would encourage anyone who is considering applying to look through the criteria online and apply before the deadline."
