An elderly dog has been rescued from a Devon gorge after breaking its leg, a local rescue team said.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton said the dog, called Cocoa, was located in a remote part of the Dart Gorge on Tuesday.

Twenty team members responded to the incident at about 15:40 BST and said the dog was about 1km (0.6 miles) downstream from Dartmeet.

"Once the dog and owner were located by the team, Cocoa, a 30kg (66lb) labrador was evacuated by stretcher to Dartmeet where her owner then drove to a local vet," the rescue service said.
