Teenager among four charged over hotel violence

Three men and a teenage boy have been charged with violent disorder after a mob stormed a hotel which was housing refugees last summer.
Around 700 people attended the Holiday Inn Express at Manvers, Rotherham, on 4 August 2024, leaving police officers injured and widespread damage.
South Yorkshire Police said 94 people had now been charged over the incident, which started as a far-right demonstration.
Lee Whitelam, 33, of Rotherham, Darren Ward, 54, of Barnsley, Philip Wood, 22, of Sefton and the 17-year-old who cannot be named have been charged with violent disorder and face court in the coming weeks.
