Hotel's annexe plan approved to 'meet demand'
LDRSPlans have been approved to construct a two-storey annexe at a hotel to meet "considerable demand" in the area.
Premier Inn in the Hampton area of Peterborough, already has 143 rooms and will build the 17-bedroom annexe in its car park.
In its planning application it said the proposals would meet its "operation requirements" and "go some way in helping to address this bedroom demand".
No objections from residents or interested parties were received and Peterborough City Council approved the application.
The hotel is located near a McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, Toby Carvery and the Serpentine Green shopping centre.
The plans will result in a loss of 19 car parking spaces, but the remaining 169 spaces have been deemed sufficient with a maximum demand at 85% capacity, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The annexe will be constructed to the north of its Brewers Fayre restaurant and to the east of the existing hotel, residing in the middle of the main existing car park.
"Premier Inn has identified a considerable demand for additional budget hotel accommodation in this location," the applicant.
